• Nearly 1 in every 107 males living in Cleveland has HIV
• The rate of HIV+ women in Cleveland is almost 6 times the rate in Ohio
• 59% of new HIV cases in Cleveland in 2006 were African-American males
• High risk heterosexual behavior accounts for 22% of new HIV and AIDS cases
• New HIV diagnoses in our city have been steadily rising for the past four years
The AIDS Taskforce serves nearly 2,000 people with HIV/AIDS and their families. The overwhelming majority of them are poor, and have little or no resources. That’s why the AIDS Taskforce provides over 160,000 meals a year, 2,000 transports to and from medical appointments, housing services, psychosocial support, prevention programs, and much more. Our goals are simple: to help people truly live with HIV, and to make sure the next generation of young people has a chance to remain as healthy as possible. And we do all that with an overhead that’s under 7% (far below the average), so that contributions directly benefit people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
